U.K. Energy and Climate Change Secretary Ed Miliband is set to appoint Cambridge University Professor David MacKay as his chief scientific officer this week, the Independent on Sunday reports.
U.K. Energy and Climate Change Secretary Ed Miliband is set to appoint Cambridge University Professor David MacKay as his chief scientific officer this week, the Independent on Sunday reports.

The country's energy sector is expected to welcome the appointment, after industry leaders from Royal Dutch Shell (RDSA), EDF Energy (EEN.FR) and QinetiQ Group PLC (QQ.LN), all praised Professor MacKay's book, titled "Sustainable Energy: Without the Hot Air," the newspaper reports.

According to the report, the book argues against misconceptions about nuclear energy, such as the belief that nuclear power stations can't be built quickly enough to tackle climate change.
