Iraq’s crude oil exports in August slipped slightly by 1.29% to 2.009 million barrels a day from 2.035 million barrels a day in July, head of the State Oil Marketing Organization told Dow Jones Newswires Tuesday.

Falah Alamri said Iraq had exported in August a total of 62.3 million barrels, while some 63.1 million were exported in the previous month.

The slight decrease is linked to availability of vessels to lift the Iraqi crude from Basra terminal in southern Iraq or via the Turkish Ceyhan port in the north.

Iraq’s July oil exports were the highest since the U.S.-led invasion in 2003.

However, Iraq’s oil revenues in August were more than those in July due to increase in oil prices.

Baghdad had earned some $4.300 billion from its oil sales in August, compared with $4.065 billion in July, Alamri said.
