The Russian government Thursday approved a national energy strategy
until 2030 that envisages increasing annual oil output to 530 million-535
million metric tons from 488 million tons in 2008, Russian news agency RIA
Novosti reports Thursday on its Web site.
It also envisages increasing natural gas production to between 885 billion and
940 billion cubic meters from 664 bcm in 2008 and pushing electricity exports
to 45 billion-60 billion kilowatt-hours from 17 billion kWh in 2008, the report
says.
The strategy also aims to reduce
Russia
's
energy dependence by boosting a faster growth of sectors consuming less energy
and using the technical potential of energy saving, the report says.
