NEW DELHI (Dow Jones)--India is willing to do more than its pledge to cut emissions intensity by 20% to 25%
NEW DELHI (Dow Jones)--India is willing to do more than its pledge to cut emissions intensity by 20% to 25%, provided that there are credible arrangements to provide additional financial support and technological transfers from developed countries to developing ones, the prime minister said before his departure for the United Nations' Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen.

India also remains fully committed to working with the rest of the world to preserve and protect the environment, Manmohan Singh said in a statement.

"It is India's view that global warming is taking place and taking place here and now, and its adverse consequences will impact most heavily on developing countries like India," Singh added.

Carbon intensity is the amount of carbon-dioxide emissions for each unit of gross domestic product
