Iran Negotiator To Hold Nuclear Talks With China

Iran's chief nuclear negotiator, Saeed Jalili, will visit China Thursday to discuss the Islamic republic's nuclear issue with Beijing, which has resisted new sanctions against Tehran.
Iran 's chief nuclear negotiator, Saeed Jalili, will visit China Thursday to discuss the Islamic republic's nuclear issue with Beijing , which has resisted new sanctions against Tehran .

Iran 's official IRNA news agency said Jalili will meet high-ranking officials in Beijing and hold "bilateral talks and discuss the nuclear issue."

Jalili's visit comes after the Group of Eight foreign ministers called Tuesday for stepped up pressure against
Iran to abandon its suspect nuclear program.

U.S. President Barack Obama added to the pressure by saying Tuesday he hoped to impose new international nuclear sanctions on
Iran within weeks, but said Washington didn't yet have global agreement to do so.

Beijing has been seen as the most hesitant member of the "P5-plus-1" group, which is negotiating with Tehran over its nuclear program.
