Russia produced 10.08 million barrels a day of crude oil and gas condensate in May, a 0.3% decline from April and slightly lower than a post-Soviet record high reached in March, the Prime-Tass news agency reported Wednesday citing statistics from the energy ministry.

The country produced 42.639 million metric tons of oil in May. In the first five months of the year,
Russia 's production totaled 207.769 million tons of crude oil and condensate, up 2.8% on the year.

State-controlled OAO Rosneft (ROSN.RS) produced 2.25 million barrels a day on average in the month, OAO Lukoil Holdings (LKOH.RS) 1.82 million barrels, TNK-BP Ltd. 1.45 million barrels, OAO Surgutneftegaz (SNGS.RS) 1.20 million barrels and OAO Gazprom Neft (SIBN.RS) 598,459 barrels.

Gas giant OAO Gazprom (GAZP.RS) produced 39.68 billion cubic meters of natural gas in May, up 31% from last year. The company's daily production averaged 1.28 billion cubic meters in the month.

Russia 's overall gas production stood at 51.20 billion cubic meters in May, up 28% on year.
