Danish player Dong Energy has been granted a concession to build Denmark’s next major offshore wind farm off the Danish island of Anholt in the Kattegat.

Dong said the construction cost of the 400-MW wind farm will be about Dkr 10 billion.

Its output will be sufficient to support the annual consumption of more than 400,000 Danish households, or equivalent to 4% of Denmark’s power consumption.

Siemens Wind Power will deliver the turbines that will have a capacity of 3.6 MW each.

The project is required to start up by the end of 2012 and be fully commissioned by the end of 2013.

Delyas in the schedule will result in a reduced tariff income.

A penalty will also apply if the turbines are not connected to the grid by 31 December 2013.
