Kazakhstan boosted its uranium production by 42% on year in the first half of 2010 to 8,452 metric tons, Kazakh state nuclear fuel company Kazatomprom said Monday.

The company said in a statement that
Kazakhstan
plans
to mine 9,770 tons of uranium in the second half of this year, slightly raising
its 2010 output forecast to 18,222 tons from 18,000 tons.
Kazatomprom's revenue rose 58% on year in the first half to 105.7 billion tenge
($717.6 million) due to increased sales of uranium products. The company's net
income stood at KZT19.4 billion, a year-on-year rise of 64%.
