PPC in Negotiations to Build the Biggest PV Park in the World in Kozani, Greece

The biggest PV park in the world is going to be built in Kozani , Greece , by the national power company, PPC, with an estimated 200MW capacity. Its cost is projected at 600 million euros and the park will be constructed by a consortium, in which PPC will participate with 51%. Already there is an expressed international interest for the project by companies like the American AES. So far, the greatest PV park globally is the one in La Mancha , Spain , with a capacity of 60MW.

Sources from within PPC claim that the park could actually reach 300MW with a cost of 800 million euros. The company has invested in renewables through its subsidiary, PPC Renewables and also plans other PV parks in Greece , like the one in Megalopolis (50MW). Consultations between PPC and foreign investors are being carried out at the moment, with the goal of finalizing an agreement within the next few weeks. The park in Kozani is going to be constructed in an area that is part of a PPC coalmine.
