Tanzania Atomic Energy Commission Director General Iddi Mkilaha is cited as
saying balancing energy needs and supply can't be met by conventional power or
renewable sources such as wind and solar.
"Coal and natural gas are sustainable in a limited time span but long term
solution to energy deficit can only be met by nuclear energy," the daily
quotes Mkilaha as having said at an East African Power Industry Convention in
Nairobi.
Australia-based Mantra Resources Ltd. (MRU.AU) is expected to start mining uranium
by 2012 at Namtumbo in the southern part of
Tanzania
, the
daily says.
