Electricity demand in Italy is expected to increase 1.9% in 2011 and by 2.7% for both the following two years, the country's state-controlled sole buyer of energy said Tuesday.

Italian 2010 power demand is estimated to grow 1.7%, Acquirente Unico SpA said
in a statement. It added that it sent these forecasts to the Industry Ministry
and the energy regulator.
Demand growth is expected to be slow and gradual, it said.
