China will start
construction on thermal power plants of 260-270 gigawatts capacity between 2011
and 2015 to meet the nation's demand, state-controlled Xinhua news agency
reported Thursday, citing a national energy meeting.
Thermal power, mostly fired by coal, will remain the main source of electricity
generation in China
in the next five years, Xinhua said.
