(ISRA.L.TV) declined to confirm reports in Israeli media Thursday that new data
have tripled the amount of natural gas expected to be contained in its Shimshon
offshore exploration area.
Isramco said new seismic surveys and other tests are currently being done in
the Shimshon area, offshore from southern
Israel
, but
new data haven't been released.
In June, Isramco said preliminary tests indicated there could be 1.1 trillion
cubic feet of natural gas in Shimshon, with a 15% probability for successful
extraction.
The media reports said the amount would triple to 3 trillion cubic feet, from
the company's June figure of 1.1 trillion cubic feet.
Isramco also owns 28% of the Tamar off-shore natural gas field, which contains
up to 9 trillion cubic feet of gas and is expected to start production in 2013.
