Hungarian oil and gas firm MOL Nyrt. (MOL.BU) is constantly monitoring possible acquisition targets, mainly upstream projects in Russia and the Kurdistan region of Iraq, MOL Chairman and Chief Executive Zsolt Hernadi said Thursday.

"We're mainly considering investments in countries where it's already present," Hernadi said at a press conference following the firm's annual general meeting.

The company is also considering acquisitions in the central and Eastern European region, both in upstream and downstream projects, Hernadi added.

In line with its medium-term investment plans, MOL will spend $5.5 billion between 2011 and 2013 on developments from operating cash flow, the company said in a release. Annually this will come to $1.8 billion-$2 billion, MOL's Group Chief Financial Officer Jozsef Molnar said.
