Romanian state-owned energy producer Nuclearelectrica will shut down the second reactor at its nuclear power plant in Cernavoda Friday for a 25-day scheduled overhaul, news agency Mediafax reported.

"The reactor will be cut off from the national power grid at 0000 hours on
May 7," Nuclearelectrica said in a statement Wednesday.
Cernavoda currently operates two reactors of 700 megawatts power each and
covers around 20% of
Romania
's
electricity production.
The government plans to build two additional nuclear reactors with similar
capabilities in Cernavoda, but the project was put off after several key
investors withdrew from the project.
