Libya's top oil official Shokri Ghanem was due to land in Vienna on Thursday this week (May 19), but it's unclear if he has actually arrived in the European nation or not, a spokesman for Austria's Interior ministry said Friday.

It emerged earlier this week that Ghanem, head of
Libya
's
National Oil Corp., had left
Tripoli
for
Tunisia
. However,
there is still no confirmation if he has defected from the regime of Moammar
Gadhafi or not.
The spokesman for the Austrian Interior ministry said Ghanem "was on a
passengers' list" of travelers due to arrive in
Austria
Thursday this week.
"We can't say [whether] he is now in
Austria
"
or not, the spokesman said.
But "we don't have any reason" to stop from him coming, he added.
