Russia 's finance ministry has proposed raising the mineral extraction tax on gas for state-controlled OAO Gazprom (GAZP.RS) to 480 rubles ($17) per 1,000 cubic meters next year, the Interfax news agency reports Tuesday citing Deputy Finance Minister Sergei Shatalov.

The ministry would seek to increase the tax to RUB600 in 2013 and RUB635 in 2014, Shatalov said.

He said the numbers could yet be "adjusted slightly" and that a final decision on raising the mineral extraction tax will be taken within ten days.

Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin said earlier this month the tax burden on
Russia 's gas industry will increase by 150 billion rubles in 2012.
