According to
China
's
customs authority, the country imported 5,356 tons of uranium in the first
half, compared to 6,065 tons during the same period a year earlier, the report
said.
China
suspended approvals for new nuclear-power projects pending changes to safety
standards after damaged Japanese plants leaked radiation following a
devastating earthquake.
China
has
13 nuclear reactors in operation, at least 25 more under construction, and the
government's five-year plan contains approvals for dozens more units.
