Panetta told reporters he got the information from South Korean defense
officials during his current visit to
Seoul
.
He said the regime believes that if the workers come home, "word of
Gadhafi's demise and news on what's happening throughout the Arab world might
reach the North Korean people, which is another example of North Korean extreme
behavior".
South Korea

Yonhap news agency carried a similar report from
Tripoli
Wednesday. Gadhafi, who held power for more than 40 years, was killed last
week.
Yonhap said the North Korean doctors, nurses and construction workers were sent
to
Libya
to
earn hard currency for their impoverished country.
North Korea
has
also taken similar steps for its officials in
Libya
,
Egypt
and
other countries, the news agency quoted a source as saying.
