OMV Unit OMV Petrom Fined EUR85.2M By Romanian Anti-Trust Body

Romanian companies OMV Petrom SA (SNP.RO), of which the Austrian oil and gas company OMV AG (OMV.VI) owns 51.01%, and OMV Petrom Marketing SRL, a 100% subsidiary of OMV Petrom, were fined a total of EUR117.1 million by the Romanian Competition Council, OMV AG said Tuesday.
Romanian companies OMV Petrom SA (SNP.RO), of which the Austrian oil and gas company OMV AG (OMV.VI) owns 51.01%, and OMV Petrom Marketing SRL, a 100% subsidiary of OMV Petrom, were fined a total of EUR117.1 million by the Romanian Competition Council, OMV AG said Tuesday.

MAIN FACTS:

-The Romanian Competition Council informed the companies of the fines after the conclusion of an investigation over the withdrawal of the retail product Eco Premium, an unleaded gasoline pre-mixed with lead substitute, from the Romanian fuels market.

-The anti-trust body imposed a fine of EUR85.2 million on OMV Petrom.

-OMV Petrom Marketing SRL has been fined EUR31.9 million.

-OMV said OMV Petrom and OMV Petrom Marketing SRL think the fines imposed are not justified, and both companies will challenge the decision in court.
