Terminale GNL Adriatico Srl, which owns one of Italy 's two liquefied natural gas import facilities, said Monday the terminal is running on lower volumes as ships are unable to dock due to heavy sea conditions.

The facility is running but at lower capacity, said a spokesman of the offshore terminal, based near the northeastern town of
Rovigo .

The spokesman said he wasn't able to quantify the current reduction in volumes. Daily normal volumes are 20 million cubic meters, he said.

LNG carriers haven't been able to dock at the terminal since Friday due to the sea conditions, said the spokesman.

The terminal, which was inaugurated in 2008, is owned by Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM), Edison SpA (EDN.MI) and Qatar Petroleum. It has an annual capacity of 8 billion meters of gas, or roughly 10% of
Italy 's annual consumption.
