Talks will take place on Tuesday over a
proposed merger between the Trans Anatolian New Pipeline (Tapan) and the
Nabucco gas pipeline, a report claimed.
Representatives from the OMV-led Nabucco
consortium are to meet in
Vienna
to discuss the possible link up
with the Tanap gas pipeline which will transport gas from the Shah Deniz 2
filed in
Azerbaijan
, Reuters reported.
News of the merger talks was revealed by
Turkish Energy Minister Taner Yildiz in an interview with Turkish language
station CNBC.e on Tuesday, the news wire reported.
The Nabucco pipeline is looking to connect gas
fields in the Caspian region and the
Middle East
with
Central Europe
through
Turkey
.
Upstreamreported on Fridaythat the
BP-led consortium developing the Shah Deniz 2 gas field has eliminated one
pipeline export option to
Europe
and is expected to whittle down remaining options to two by June. A
final investment decision is expected by mid-2013.
The final decision on the various proposed
export routes has been delayed by about one year, but the 2017-18 schedule for
exports from Shah Deniz remains unchanged.
The decision by the consortium comes four
months after it received proposals from Nabucco, Trans Caspian Pipeline (TAP)
and ITGI. Two other options were later added by BP and Socar separately – the
Southeast Europe Pipeline (SEEP) and Trans Anatolian New Pipeline (Tanap).
