Some 3% Of UK Gas Output Being Lost Because Of Elgin Leak

Around 3% of the U.K. North Sea's gas output is being lost as a result of the continued shut-in of the Elgin field following a leak on a Total SA (TOT) platform, said U.K. Energy Minister Charles Hendry Friday.
Around 3% of the U.K. North Sea's gas output is being lost as a result of the continued shut-in of the Elgin field following a leak on a Total SA (TOT) platform, said U.K. Energy Minister Charles Hendry Friday.

"With regard to the amount of gas being lost, its about 3% of the amount of total output from the U.K. North Sea," said Hendry. However, he added that he didn't see a risk to the country's security of energy supply, given that the northern hemisphere is moving into a period of warmer weather.
