The share of renewable energy sources (RES) in electricity production in Greece more than doubled within five years, climbing from 2.1 percent in 2006 to 5.2 percent last year, according to a survey by ICAP that will be presented on April 5.
Photovoltaic systems saw their installed power almost triple in 2011 compared with 2010, accounting for 21.6 percent of installed RES capacity. Wind parks’ share was 68 percent last year.
Total RES’ installed power grew in those five years at an annual rate of 23 percent while output increased by 18.4 percent per year.
Wind parks accounted for 71.3 percent of that, while photovoltaics covered 11.9 percent.
Another study, by Stochasis consultants, found that RES firms saw their turnover grow by 45 percent in 2011 from 2010.
