The European Union's executive body is urging Poland, Greece and
Portugal to fully implement EU rules on nuclear safety, threatening to take
them to court if they don't do so, it said Thursday.
The three countries haven't yet informed the European Commission on whether
they have transposed the EU rules into their national legislation, the
commission--which has executive powers in the EU--said in a statement.
None of the countries has nuclear power plants, but the rules cover all sectors
related to atomic energy, including research applications.
The countries have now two months to respond to the inquiries and if they don't
respond, the commission might take them to court and fine them.
