Qatar
is
looking at possible investment opportunities in shale gas worldwide and doesn't
see the energy source as a threat, the country's energy minister, Mohammed bin
Saleh al-Sada, said Thursday.
Qatar
is
one of the world's largest producers of conventional natural gas, which unlike
unconventional resources such as shale gas is easy and cheap to tap.
However, al-Sada, speaking at a conference in Paris, pointed out that the
"gas demand has increased" and it also remains to be seen if the U.S.
will "allow permits to export liberally," while state-owned Qatar
Petroleum "is looking for investments for unconventionals worldwide."
