Turkey currently plays a role of a bridge between energy suppliers and consumers. The statement came from deputy general manager of the Turkish Botas pipeline company Savash Yanik speaking at the 19th Caspian Oil & Gas-2012 exhibition.

He said today it is important to eliminate the territorial gap between the energy suppliers and consumer countries, while supplies of hydrocarbons need to be at reasonable prices and be maximally diversified.

'Implementation of a number of pipeline projects including Nabucco that aim at further strengthening of Turkey’s role as the energy transit country is on the agenda. The Transanatolian gas pipeline project is to be implemented soon.

But Turkey does not contend itself with such projects against the backdrop on global tendencies. We believe that today the projects aimed at ensuring the European energy security represent an exceptional importance', Yanik said.

In turn, member of the Directors Board of IGI-Poseidon, head of the department for international projects of the Greek gas company DEPA Konstantinos Karagiannakos noted that “Azerbaijan is the only real supplier of ‘big’ gas to Europe until 2025”.
