The Polish government's yet-to-be published draft law on taxing
hydrocarbons production may give the government as much as a 40% stake in
hydrocarbon licenses, daily Dziennik Gazeta Prawna reports Tuesday citing an
unnamed government official.
One option being considered is the creation of an entity, under the aegis of
the Environment Ministry, which would hold stakes in licenses to produce oil
and natural gas in
Poland
.
The other option would discard the need for an entity, with private sector
license-holders simply paying out an undecided percentage of their profit to
the government, the daily says.
Poland
wants
to create a tax and regulatory framework for its embryonic shale gas sector,
which it says it expects to start producing natural gas commercially in 2015 or
2016.
