Iran
sees
an oil price of $100 per barrel as equitable and therefore sees no need for an
emergency OPEC meeting, an Iranian news agency quoted the country's oil
minister as saying Tuesday.
The remarks by Rostam Ghasemi, in an interview with the Mehr news agency, are a
departure from his proposal earlier this month to hold an extraordinary
gathering for the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries.
Mr. Ghasemi's views on price also tone down his previous view that $120 a
barrel was a good level.
The Iranian statements suggest members are now mending fences on key elements
of OPEC policies, with the Saudis also favoring $100 a barrel as an ideal
price.
