The Greek government has transferred 17% of state-controlled utility Public Power Corp (PPC) to the country's privatisation agency, thus paving the way for its sale, Reuters reported.

The government, however, has still not decided whether it will divest the 17% stake in PPC or sell individual power stations instead.

The sale is part of Greece's privatisation plans, which have to raise 19 billion euro ($24.5 billion) through outright asset sales and concessions by the end of 2015. The government's entire stake in PPC, the country's biggest power producer, totals 51%.

PPC has a market capitalisation of some 800 million euro.
