Azerbaijan
is interested in implementation of
the Trans-Caspian project. The statement came from Industry and Energy Minister
Natig Aliyev, Gun.Az reports.
He noted that work is underway for implementation of the project.
"It's not a simple project, since it has political, economical and other
angles. It’s also associated with the legal status of the
Caspian Sea
. I would say that if
Turkmenistan
considers this project important
for itself and views it as a path to the West, then
Azerbaijan
supports this idea," Aliyev
said.
The minister pointed out that
Azerbaijan
will provide all conditions in its
territory for
Turkmenistan
in order to materialize this
project.
"Currently the European Union is interested in this project, bilateral
negotiations are conducted. Here we have difficulties with obligations. Now the
talk is about that
Turkmenistan
should pump at least 30bn cubic
metres of gas via this pipeline. On the second hand, it’s not known who will
finance construction of this pipeline."
