Greece is assessing bids for oil and gas reserves exploration and exploitation in three blocks in the west of the country, news agency Bloomberg reported.

"The bids were opened in the middle of this month and are in the process of final evaluation," Bloomberg reported on Thursday, quoting deputy energy minister Papageorgiou.

In early July, Greece's energy ministry said that the country had received eight bids from 11 companies and ventures, for oil and natural gas reserves exploration in the Patraikos Gulf and in Katakolo, located off the western coast, and in Ioannina in the northwest of the mainland. Iannina block received a total of three bids, while Patraikos and Katakolo got two offers each.
