Iraq's crude oil production has reached 3.4 million barrels a day, the first time it has hit such a level in more than two decades, Iraq's deputy prime minister for energy affairs said Wednesday.

Hussein al-Shahristani said
Iraq
's oil
output has increased by 1 million barrels a day this year.
"Our output will continue to increase and
Iraq
will
be the second-largest crude oil producer worldwide," Mr. Shahristani told
reporters.
Iraq
said
it exported 2.6 million barrels a day in September and its exports in October
are expected to exceed 2.7 million barrels a day.
