Turkish
gasoline sales in the first eight months of the year fell 6.2 percent to 1.2
million tons, while diesel sales increased 7.1 percent to 10.2 million tons,
according to an August report on the oil sector by the Energy Market Regulatory
Authority. In August, the average price of gasoline was 4.47 liras per liter
and 3.85 liras for diesel.
Meanwhile, gasoline prices are reduced by up to 13 kurus effective from today
due to changes in exchange rates and oil prices. Yavuz Erkut, general manager
of TPRA_, said yesterday that removing differences in the special consumption
tax imposed on gasoline and diesel would help reduce prices.
