IENE’s 17th Annual National Conference «Energy &
Development 2012», which will take place at the Evgenides Foundation (387
Syngrou Avenue, P. Faliro) on October, 30-31, will focus on the «Geopolitical
and Development Angle of Greece’s Energy System». The conference is being organized
under the auspices of Greece’s Ministry for Environment, Energy & Climate
Change (YPEKA). «Energy & Development 2012» will host the Deputy Minister
of Energy, Mr. Makis Papageorgiou as its invited speaker at the official
luncheon on October 30.
A speech by Ms Chrysoula Argyriou (DG Energy, European

Greece’s energy legal and regulatory framework are currently underway.

energy groups in Greece, such as the Public Power Corporation – PPC, Greece’s
Public Gas Corporation S.A. (DEPA S.A.) and National Natural Gas System

contributing their views and ideas on Greece’s energy prospects. Moreover, several
prominent Greek and foreign analysts on energy and geopolitics will participate
as speakers of «Energy & Development 2012».
Once again, IENE’s 17th annual National Conference «Energy
& Development 2012» aims at becoming a platform for fruitful dialogue on key
energy and environment issues in Greece and internationally, by analyzing latest
trends and prospects and reaching useful conclusions.
The transformation of the Greece’s energy market, the licensing
round for hydrocarbon exploration in Western Greece, the planned non-exclusive
seismic surveys in offshore areas south of Crete, the ongoing exploration in
the EEZ of Cyprus, the South Corridor’s passage through Greece, the financial
crisis in Greece and the Eurozone, the EU embargo on Iranian oil exports, the
ongoing violent political transformation in the Middle East and North Africa compose
a complex geopolitical setting that will, undoubtedly, influence Greece’s
energy developments in the year s to come. Thus, IENE’s 17th annual National
