"thirsting" for foreign investment in sectors such as energy and
tourism, and is well positioned for an economic upswing, the country's
development minister Costis Hatzidakis says in an interview published
Wednesday.
"I think the Greek economy is now standing before an economic upturn after
five years of recession," Mr. Hatzidakis is quoted as saying by German
newspaper Handelsblatt.
The minister argues that recent structural reforms, such as deregulation of the
transport system, energy sector and labor market, provide a "solid basis
for investments," while the question of
Greece
leaving the euro zone is "no longer being raised." Sectors ripe for
investment include tourism, energy and organic agriculture, the minister says.
Germany
is
"one of the most important audiences we are turning to," he added.
