Oil
supermajors Total, Statoil and ExxonMobil have expressed their interest for the
results of the seismic surveys that are being conducted right now in the area
of the
Ionian
Sea
and
south of
Crete
by Norwegian PGS.
According to
the Greek government, those surveys have just entered their second stage and
will be completed by February. Afterwards, around April, a license will be
awarded for the first drilling to take place, but it will not happen before a
few years have passed.
The drawing
of prospects on the map and the call for participation to Greek and foreign
companies will occur by the end of 2014, while the first drilling will take
place around 2017-18.
