This winter,
many Greeks are forced to use air conditioners and other electrical appliances for
heating because of the high price of oil and its higher taxation. Consequently,
the demand for electricity has risen considerably in December, according to the
data available from the network administrator, ADMIE.
ADMIE
forecasted a maximum load of 8.400 MW for Tuesday and expects a higher average
load for the dates 21, 22 and 23 of December. At the same time, Greek natural
gas company, DEPA, planned ahead and asked for an LNG shipment to be delivered
earlier, in order to supply the electricity producers in time.
PPC
attributed the rise of power demand exclusively to the need for heating, while
at the same time the company increased the usage of hydroelectric power plants
in order to reach the production necessary.
