Wind
energy installations in
Greece
reached 1746 MW after the end of
2012, according to the statistics of the Hellenic Wind Energy Association (ELETAEN).
Of those, 1461,4 MW are installed in the interconnected grid, while another
284,6 MW are installed in the Greek islands.
The
association also mentioned in its report that the rate of new installations
declined in 2012 by 6,8%, after an explosive leap of 23,5% during 2011.
Geographically, the most wind farms (548 MW -31,4%) are situated in the central
region of Sterea Ellada, another 340,75 MW are installed in Peloponnesus (19,5%)
and 240,6 MW are installed in Thrace and Eastern Macedonia (13,8%).
As
for the top five companies in installed capacity, EDF leads with 298,8 MW
(17,1%), second is Iberdrola Rokas with 250,7 MW (14,4%), third is Terna
Energeiaki with 241,5 MW (13,8%), fourth is Enel Green Power with 200,5 MW
(11,5%) and fifth is Ellaktor with 146,8 MW (8,4%).
Vestas
is the number one manufacturer of wind turbines in
Greece
, having provided systems which
account for 49% of the total capacity. Enercon is second with 22%, Siemens is
third with 11%, Gamesa fourth with 10% and Nordex fifth with 4%.
Eletaen
also notes that in 2012 there was reduced investment in wind energy in
Greece
, but even so, some 150 million
euros were invested.
