In 2012, renewable energy in Greece reached the total installed capacity of 3547 MW, as 900 MW of solar farms were installed, as well as 100 MW of wind farms and a few additions of other RES. Of those 3547 MW, 3147 MW are installed in the interconnected system and another 400 MW are installed in the Greek islands.

It is also worth mentioning that in December, hydro plants significantly increased their production due to heavy rainfall. Small hydro power stations increased their production from 42.662 MWh in November to 82.921 MWh in December. Likewise, PPC’s large hydro stations also increased their production.
