The Cypriot
ministry of Commerce and French oil company, Total, signed today a contract
concerning the realization of hydrocarbon exploration in the blocks 10 and 11
of the country’s EEZ.
The signing
took place at the office of the minister, Neoklis Sylikiotis, who said that “with
today’s act we conclude one of the most critical targets this government set in
its energy policy, the successful realization of the second bidding round”.

, said
that the company plans to proceed with 2D seismic surveys in Block 10 and 3D seismic
surveys in Block 11. Furthermore, the company plans to drill for oil and
natural gas, but it is too soon to tell which one is a priority.
According
to sources of CNA, the signing bonus was 24 mil. euros.
