French nuclear engineering firm Areva SA (AREVA.FR)
Monday said that, following TVO's announcement regarding the schedule of the
Olkiluoto 3 nuclear reactor project, the Areva-Siemens (SI) consortium would
like to recall the commitment made by the client to take all the measures
necessary to contribute to a stable and reliable calendar.
MAIN FACTS:
- The Areva-Siemens consortium and TVO jointly
identified a while ago the Instrumentation and Control as a critical field for
the positive progress of the project.
- Over the course of the past year, the consortium has
asked for significantly more active cooperation from TVO in order to obtain the
final approval of the detailed I&C architecture.
- The Areva-Siemens consortium regrets that TVO
continues to not fulfill its obligations to allow for the project to advance
properly.
- Areva emphasizes that the EPR nuclear reactor's
I&C offers major safety advancements and has already been approved by the
French and British nuclear safety authorities.
-
Areva's long-term experience in the construction of third generation nuclear
reactors has shown that working hand in hand with the customers is a key factor
to success. In
China
, the
construction of the Taishan 1 & 2 EPR advances twice as fast as the Finnish
project.
