Mass new additions of
photovoltaics continued in March, as investors rushed to secure the best
possible FiTs for their solar farms. After 296 MW in January and 224 MW in
February, photovoltaics added another 259 MW in March, for total of 780 MW in
the first quarter of the year.
According to the official
data from the Greek system operator, LAGIE, 247,4 MW of pv plants and 11,75 MW
of pv on rooftops were added in March. As for the other renewable technologies,
no new capacity was connected during that month.
Consequently, photovoltaics
in
Greece
are now at a total installed capacity of 2.200
MW, of which 1863 are pv plants and 341 MW are rooftop systems.
Furthermore, photovoltaics
saw their produced energy rise significantly during March; Production reached
200.000 MWh, versus 115.000 MWhs in February. Likewise, wind farms increased
their output with 366.000 MWhs versus 275.000 MWhs in February
