Norwegian solar panels supplier Renewable Energy Corp ASA (OSL:REC) said on
Friday it had picked sector player Sungate SA to be its first platinum partner
in Greece.
With the help of Sungate, which sold some 17,000 REC solar
panels in 2012, the Norwegian company ranked among the top three sector
suppliers in the southeastern European country, REC said in a press release.
Those panels were featured in over 100 installations.
Sungate has
indicated it will be focusing on Greece, Cyprus and the Middle East and North
Africa (MENA) region this year.
Earlier this month, market analyst IHS
(NYSE:IHS) said that REC, the only European-based manufacturer in the top 10 of
its 2012 PV module supplier rankings, had increased its shipments by 31% to 757
MW last year.
