Greenhouse gas emissions in Bulgaria increased the most among EU member states in 2011, against the backdrop of a decrease in the bloc's total emissions, the European Union's environmental agency said.
Gas emissions in Bulgaria rose by 9.6% to 66.1 million tonnes in 2011, the European Environment Agency said in a report.
Compared to 1990, Bulgaria managed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 39.6%.
The 27 EU member states reduced their overall greenhouse gas emissions by an annual 3.3% in 2011 to 4,550 million tonnes, while compared to 1990 the emissions fell 18.4%.
