ANRE, Romania's energy regulator, removed the transportation tariffs related to the import-export of electricity to stop an infringement procedure of the European Commission (EC).
The EC started the procedure in 2011, because authorities imposed tariffs for cross-border electricity transactions.
ANRE has also given the green light for the trading of natural gas through OPCOM, the energy stock exchange, and the BRM, the commodities stock exchange.
Romania has limited interconnections to export electricity and is currently working on gas pipeline connections with the neighboring countries.
