The liberalisation of the power market for all consumers, including households, will start on January 1, 2015, the regulatory energy commission said in a statement on its website on Tuesday.

Qualified consumers, which can buy electricity on the liberelised market, will include companies that have over 50 employees and total annual revenues or total assets of over 10 million euro ($13.5 million). They will not be allowed to purchase electricity under contracted prices from state-owned transmission operator MEPSO, it added.

The partial liberalisation of the electricity market for some industrial consumers started in 2007.
