Serbia Signs Agreement with France in the Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development

Minister of Energy, Development and Environmental Protection Zorana Mihajlovic and French Ambassador to Serbia Francois Xavier Deniau signed today the Administrative agreement between the two countries in the field of environmental protection and sustainable development.

Speaking at a press conference held after the signing of the agreement, Mihajlovic explained that it will help our country to get prepared for the opening of negotiations with the EU in the field of ecology.

Under this agreement, working groups consisting of experts of the two countries will be made, which will define key points and projects that should be worked on in order to improve environmental protection.

These are projects related to climate change, waste management, soil protection, air monitoring and other, she explained.

Deniau noted that France has the necessary knowledge which can help Serbia in the field of ecology so that it could harmonise that area with EU standards.

He underlined that a historic period is ahead of Serbia – the opening of negotiations for membership in the EU, and voiced his hope that cooperation between the two countries will be continued in the given field.
