With reference to the notice published on 31st July 2013 concerning the investigation according to which it is necessary to limit the maximum power on the Italy-Greece interconnection, TERNA and ADMIE inform market participants of the following.

The analysis performed by Terna and the cable manufacturer has confirmed that in order to restore the full capacity of the cable and to increase the yearly reliability ratio,an extraordinary renewal action on the Italian terrestrial part of the cable is needed. The extraordinary renewal action, that will include not only activities on the Italian terrestrial part of the cable but on all of its components, requires the complete outage of the cable and it is expected to last several months during the year 2014.

The definition of the restoration plan is in progress. TERNA and ADMIE will provide more accurate informationin the next weeks concerning the start date and the duration of the outage for the year 2014 and the related capacity allocation.

As far as the current outage of the cable is concerned, TERNA and ADMIE inform that it was caused by a component failure and that it will be restored by the end of November/beginning of December. TERNA and ADMIE intend to communicate the date the cable will be back in operation as soon as possible.
