As many as 222 power
plants with a combined capacity of 6,986
megawatts (MW) were installed in Turkey in 2013,
data from the country's energy ministry showed.
Natural gas and lignite-fired thermal power
plants account for 52.20% of the newly added
capacity, figures published on the website of
the energy ministry indicated.
The share of hydropower plants is 37.41%, wind
farms account for 7.13%, and the remaining 3.26%
of the newly added capacity in 2013 is covered
by biomass, biogas, geothermal and waste heat
plants.
